Music as a
vehicle for social change
Marimba Jam Cares invites a community of monthly donors to transform children's lives through music education. Our mission is to use the power of African music to unlock the potential in every child, helping them become confident, productive members of society while bridging the gaps of education inequality in South Africa. The Rising Stars Program is the catalyst of this ideology.
OUR MISSION
To provide equitable access to inclusive marimba education for youth in disadvantaged school communities, using music as a tool for empowerment, opportunity, and community building.
How the program works
One set of instruments shared by up to 5 schools

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
Performances are vital to a young musician's development, encouraging learners to step out of their comfort zone, grow in confidence, and feel a sense of accomplishment. Every band gets multiple opportunities each year.

Our teacher encourages us and makes it fun. Music helps me escape reality and calms me. When I play the marimba I feel confident and can do anything. It gives me inspiration and is the best thing I ever participated in.

THE RISING STARS PROGRAM
Sustainable music education where it's needed most
Our outreach has grown into the Rising Stars Program, run under Marimba Jam Cares to reach greater communities. Per our Constitution, the objective is to provide music education to underprivileged communities through sustainable weekly marimba band lessons and to use African music to connect the youth of South Africa across the socio-economic barriers that separate them, promoting nation-building among the youth.
